What Inspired OBJ.03.HEX.HORN
Looking back at the form of our first Concept Object, the OBJ.01, the tapered hexagon naturally suggested a horn-like geometry, an architectural form that is both visually striking and acoustically effective. To evolve the OBJ.01 into a horn we drew inspiration from iconic audio horns by OMA and A is Ara, admiring how their designs balance scale, shape, and sound projection. With this in mind, we set out to create a large hexagonal horn that merges the sculptural language of our previous designs with the technical needs of high-performance horns. The OBJ.03.BIRADIAL.HORN provides the foundational base for this evolution, from which the HEX.HORN develops a larger, more commanding iteration, exploring form, and sonic depth at a grander scale.
Creating OBJ.03.HEX.HORN
To realize the OBJ.03.HEX.HORN, we sourced some of the largest drivers and horns in our collection, acquired from Meyer HMS speakers purchased from Warner Brothers recording studios (we also have Volt components available). These included 15” bass drivers and massive 2” compression drivers, providing the raw power and precision, for a speaker that can scale to really fill a space with emotion. The hexagonal horn was designed to be tuned to 700Hz optimized performance with the larger compression drivers, while the ports were carefully reinforced and 3D printed to handle the increased airflow and more insulation added to control vibration from the 15” deep bass of the larger drivers. This combination allows the OBJ.03.HEX.HORN to deliver controlled, powerful low-end, articulate mids, and highs, all within a sculptural form that makes an immediate visual and auditory impression.
Commissioning an OBJ.03.HEX.HORN
For commissions, we provide a collaborative process, sharing detailed drawings, measurements, and guidance to help you select finishes, materials, and driver configurations. Because these speakers are made using reclaimed and limited-availability components, production is extremely limited, with some units being entirely one-of-a-kind. Each OBJ.03.HEX.HORN is therefore a unique object, combining artisanal craftsmanship, historical reverence, and high-performance engineering.
